Dungeon lays your posts out as index cards. Each one gets its own pastel, sits at its own slight angle, and straightens up when you hover over it, as if you'd picked it up to read.

Here's what to look for as you click around:

  • Cards and filing codes. Every post gets a code from its first tag and its date. This one is #GU260926.
  • The reader. Click a card and the post opens over the page. Links to posts still work as normal pages too.
  • The floating menu. Everything + opens a panel with more links. On a phone, the menu hides while you scroll down.
  • The Now page. One card per month, with an etched pattern in the empty space.
  • The Scatter wall. Short notes, quotes and finds, pinned to a board.
  • The saber. It's in the footer. Click it.

The letters come from the post's first tag (Guide becomes GU), and the numbers are the publish date: year, month, day.

Notes on the Scatter wall use their kind instead, with the time added, so #TH260926·1745 is a thought from a quarter to six on 26 September.

There's nothing to set up. Tag your posts and the codes appear.

The Now page is a page with the URL now. Each month on it is a post with the internal tag #now; its publish date becomes the month's label.

Empty space at the bottom of a card gets an etched pattern. Pick one for the whole site in the theme settings, or give a single month its own with a tag:

  • #filler-floral: botanical sprigs
  • #filler-circuit: a circuit board
  • #filler-city: a skyline
  • #filler-topo: contour lines
  • #filler-none: nothing

A colour tag like #cobalt fixes a month's colour. Otherwise each month picks its own.

On bold cards, text and patterns switch to white by themselves. The red quote on the Scatter wall is one.

The switch between light and dark mode lives in the footer, and it's a glowing blade. Red means dark mode, blue means light.

Click it and the blade powers down, the new mode spreads across the page from the hilt with static crackling along its edge, and a blade of the other colour ignites. It takes two seconds, which is about a second and a half longer than a light switch needs.

The messages that appear beside it, and an optional synthesised sound, are theme settings. Visitors who prefer reduced motion get an instant switch instead.

A two-column table with an empty header row shows no header at all, which is handy for simple lists of facts.

Feature images on cards start slightly muted and tinted with the card's colour, so a wall of cards stays calm. Hover over a card, or scroll one into view on a phone, and the photo shows its true colours.
